Magnolia builds up 'Roadie'

Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to Michael Cuesta's drama "Roadie" and may release the film on video-on-demand 12 ,. 2 before a theatrical release on Jan. 6. "Roadie" stars Ron Eldard along with Bobby Cannavale, Jill Hennessy and Lois Cruz. The film was put together by Gerald Cuesta and Michael Cuesta and produced by Mike Downey and Sirad Balducci. Eldard plays a longtime roadie for your legendary Blue Oyster Cult that's been fired with the band. With nowhere else to go to, he returns where you can see his aging mother in Queens, where a wild encounter with two secondary school pals shows him that a number of things never change. Cuesta's credits include "L.I.E.," "Twelve and Holding" and Showtime's "Homeland." The sale was talked about for Magnolia by senior V . p . of purchases Dori Begley and mind of legal and business matters Chris Matson, with Kevin Iwashina and Christine D'Souza of Preferred Content and Graham Taylor of WME working regarding the filmmakers.
